On April 10 we visited Doong Elementary School for the turnover of school supplies. Salamat kaayo to school head mam Wennie C. Pastor, teachers, pupils and parents for the warm welcome. A special mention to mam Syril R. Forrosuelo and mam Joy V. Alolor for the coordination of logistics for this visit.

We were delighted to be able to provide audiovisual equipment in the form of 1 x 55″ TCL TV and 2 Movable Stands to increase the number of TV’s in classrooms. Kindergarten teacher mam Joy V. Alolor received educational materials to enhance her classroom including rubber mats for a new soft play area. The 44 pupils were very excited to see the new manipulative toys and books, and super happy to receive their own pack of school supplies.

Kindergarten had a very special visitor – Larry the Leprechaun travelled all the way from Ireland to meet them. The pupils learned that leprechauns are small, mischievous fairy-like creatures in Irish folklore, wearing green and with a beard and hat. They are known for hiding pots of gold at the end of rainbows, and if you are lucky enough to catch one, they will have to reveal the location of their hidden treasure. They also learned the colours of the flag of Larry’s country. The pupils enjoyed a fun activity using their new crayons to colour their own Larry and his flag.

I presented the new Project Ripple t-shirts customised with their Doong school logo and tote bags to mam Wennie and mam Joy, and I was very happy to accept a Plaque of Recognition on behalf of Project Ripple.
A big thank you again to everyone at Doong Elementary School for making time for the Turnover of Donations while they were busy preparing for the Graduation and Moving Up Ceremonies.
