2025 MARCH VISIT TO SUNGKO ELEMENTARY SCHOOL – BANTAYAN ISLAND, CEBU

During a recent trip to Bantayan Island I dropped by Sungko Elementary School to visit the kindergarten class of Mam Riza for the second time. I was delighted to see that the children are really benefitting in their lessons from the TV (Skyworth 43″ ₱15,799) that was sponsored after my first visit back in June 2023. Audiovisual equipment is an important part of the modern classroom and an essential teaching aid relied upon by Teachers for reinforcement and use of supplemental material. And of course the pupils love watching cartoons and songs during their breaks, as many do not have TV’s in their homes.

I conducted a needs assessment with Mam Riza, and we discussed her additional needs for materials to upgrade the two Kinder classrooms. We agreed on some projects which will kick off very soon, beginning with the manufacture of 8 customised hexagonal tables for the pupils to work together collaboratively (estimated ₱16,000). We are really looking forward to seeing them ready for the start of the new school year this coming June!
